Preference Point System for HCV Program
NHA use the following local preferences:
Residency Preference: this preference for admission is for a family who resides or works in Hamilton County, IN, or in the surrounding counties of Boone, Clinton, Hancock, Madison, Marion, or Tipton County, Indiana. Families who work or have been hired to work in one of these preference areas are eligible to claim that preference
Note: The Residency Preference will not have the purpose or effect or delaying or otherwise denying admission to the program based on the race, color, ethnic origin, gender, religion, disability or age of any member of an applicant family.
Disability Preference: this preference for admission is given to a family whose head, spouse or co-head is a person with a disability. A person with a disability is defined as a person who meets the HUD definition of Person with Disabilities (CFR 5.403).
Elderly Preference: this preference for admission is given to a family whose head, spouse or co-head is a person who is elderly. An elderly person is defined as a person who is at least 62 years of age.
Veterans Preference: this preference for admission is for a family whose head, spouse or sole member is a veteran or a surviving spouse of a veteran with an honorable discharge. “Surviving spouse” means not divorced from, or not remarried prior to or after the death of the veteran.
